Class Description:

“It is time to relax, release, repair, & restore!” Stretch, Flex, & Balance Yoga is designed for all levels of skill. This class is exactly what it sounds like, a combination of working the muscle tissue allowing the muscles to fire properly and to stretch the muscle fibers and muscle fascia. With baseline flexibility assessments every class, students quickly see improvements in their range of movement with a decrease in muscle stiffness and inflammation.

How It Works:

Starting each class with relaxing mind-body breathwork as students prepare for their yoga practice moving into gentle stretching from head-to-toe using a combination of integrated stretch therapy techniques with compression, including a targeted lumbar-pelvic-hip complex flow that immediately releases tension and tightnessness in the lower back, hamstrings, hips, and calves. Incorporating perpetual movement for increasing joint & muscle elasticity, agility, and suppleness. Ending each class with essential balance & core work using slow flow yoga poses seen in Hatha & Vinyasa and the relaxing nature of Restorative & Yin Yoga to train the muscles to work together in concert.

Description:

Assisted Stretch is a key element in Integrated Stretch Therapy (I.S.T.) a scientific protocol encompassing various techniques to treat certain physical problems associated with tight muscles and restricted joints. When performed properly, Assisted Stretch can help prevent injuries and improve performance while immediately increasing range of motion, reducing muscle tension, & improving movement quality.

How it Works:

Muscle flexibility is affected by several factors. Overall, neural signals to the muscle tissue play a significant role in your muscles’ ability to completely lengthen, or release. During a 40 minute session, as you comfortably relax on a massage table in a quiet room, the practitioner will perform techniques such as static and perpetual stretching, compression, foam rolling, and targeted with opposing muscle contraction release methods. You will immediately increase your flexibility largely in response to the stimulation of receptors that tell your muscles to relax or contract. The stimulation of these receptors leads to an overall relaxation of your muscle fibers in the short term and over time, Assisted Stretch sessions cause more a permanent elongation of your muscles through changes to the resting length of the tissue itself.
